  • The ABE Distance Learning Pilot Project is exploring the use of video, computer assisted instruction, and telecommunications to overcome barriers to participating in ABE instruction caused by situations such as distance, waiting lists, or conflicting family/work schedules. The program supports up to four regional sites or "hubs" where specially trained teaching and counseling staff work in a regional "classroom without walls". ABE learners receive core content of the curriculum through video and computer networks.
