Run-On Sentences

A "run-on" sentence is two complete sentences put together without using enough punctuation. Read the information. Try the practice activity and check answers.

Example :
Leonardo DaVinci was a great painter, he was also an inventor.

To fix run-on sentences:

Place a period between the two complete thoughts.

Leonardo DaVinci was a great painter. He was also an inventor.

Place a semi-colon between the two complete thoughts.

Leonardo DaVinci was a great painter; he was also an inventor.

Place a comma and a linking word (and, but, for, nor, so, yet) between the two complete thoughts.

Leonardo DaVinci was a great painter, and he was also an inventor.
