Dealing with Death

There are a lot of different ways adults deal with a death, whether it is a parent, friend or child.

One way is to turn to drinking. They’re devastated and don’t know how to deal with the way they are feeling, and by drinking the pain goes away...for the time being. But, the hurt is still there the next day.

Another way adults deal with death of a loved one is counseling. They can get help through organizations sponsored by their city or town, or by talking with the pastor of their church. The counselor can explain to them that their feelings are natural, and that their deceased are in a better place. A lot of people are afraid of death because they don’t understand it.

Other people suffer for a long time knowing they’re going to die, but don’t know when. This can be very scary for them.

A third way people deal with death is suicide. Especially if they are an only child with no other relatives or siblings around. They figure there is no reason to stay alive if they’re going to be left alone. I feel that’s pretty scary knowing you’re going to be the only one left in the family. You must feel lost and don’t think you have a reason to go on.

I feel counseling is the best solution to dealing with death.
